Full Time: 37.5 hours per week on average

You will be required to work on a rota which includes days, evenings and weekends within our supported housing project and dispersed accommodation units

The post holder will:

YMCA Bath is a busy 210 bedded hostel who cater for sporting groups, school and individual backpackers. Our restaurant is opening every morning to serve a light breakfast to our guests (or cooked breakfast and/or evening meals). Evening meals are pre booked by the groups, catering from 20 – 130 people.

We require an experienced Chef/Cook for the hostel who must have catering qualifications, along with plenty of experience. To work 20 hours per week (overtime is available) including every other weekend (7.00 am – 11.00 am).

You will also cook for a 20 place nursery weekdays and prepare snacks in accordance to the set menu.

Experience and Knowledge

To ensure preparation, cooking and presentation of food is of a high standard.

You must be able to work well within a small team, take responsibility for kitchen and kitchen staff whilst on shift.

To be able to cook home cook meals from raw ingredients and experience of special diets would be useful.

Good knowledge of food preparation and kitchen management.

Good knowledge of Hygiene rules and regulations. To ensure all kitchen staff maintain the highest standards of health, hygiene and safety in the kitchen.

Likely to be qualified to City and Guilds 706/1 706/2 and 706/3 or NVQ level 3 in catering.

Understanding of a diversity of dietary preferences and requirements, taking into account of special needs (e.g. diabetes).

Hours – 20 hours

£8.65 per hour
