We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Room Leader to manage the Toddler room, along with supervising the room staff team. 20 hours per week (potentially 40 hours/ week when we are busy)+ cover when required

What does the job involve?

As a cook, it will be your responsibility to ensure all food is cooked to a high quality. You will also be responsible for your own health and hygiene, ensuring our procedures and checks are met in line with our 5 star rated kitchen. You will also be responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen. We cater for groups that order in advance; cooked breakfast and evening meals. The basis of these meals are home-cooked e.g. fish and chips, lasagne, spaghetti. These meals are seasonal with an increase from March to July working up to 40 hours per week, with the winter season being approximately 20 hours per week.

As a catering assistant, it will be your responsibility to provide top quality customer service to all our customers who come to the restaurant. From setting up for a light buffet breakfast, Cooking cooked breakfast when ordered, restocking, washing up and cleaning down. It will also be your responsibility to keep the kitchen are kept clear and clean from any plates, cups and leftover food and drink. This will include washing up (with a dishwasher) and clearing and wiping down tables, as well as clearing and washing the kitchen and restaurant floor.

Supervising the kitchen assistants, ensuring the work rota is completed to cover any group meals that have been ordered.

This is a joint role, meaning you will have both kitchen assistant shifts and cook shifts. Shifts run between the hours of 6.30 am and 11/12.00 and include bank holidays and weekends. Every other weekend off, no Christmas Day or Boxing Day working.

Previous experience is essential, full F & H, COSSH and other training will be provided to the right candidate.

YMCA Little Ducklings Nursery and Out of School Club

The nursery will open in late 2019 and the out of school club will open in spring 2020.

YMCA Little Ducklings Nursery will be situated in two large houses with a shared large garden in Teal Avenue centrally placed in Lyneham.  We will be registered to take up to 50 children aged 3months -5 years in the nursery and for 16 places for the before and after school club for 5-11 year olds. The setting will have a strong emphasis on outdoor play both in the large garden and in the surrounding rural community.

What does the job involve?

To support the Nursery Manager to lead and inspire the provision of a child centred nursery environment in which all children are cared for in a safe, nurturing and stimulating way that encourages individual development within a group setting. To assist the Nursery Manager in monitoring and evaluation of the performance of the nursery and to plan for its development and improved performance.
