YMCA Kings Nursery, Malmesbury are currently seeking an Apprentice who is enthusiastic and passionate about working with children.

The ideal candidate will be a level 2 qualified professional looking to qualify to a level 3.

We will also consider an enthusiastic new starter to start with level 2 or with level 3.

What does the job involve?

Candidates will be able to interact with young children and have an understanding of child development. They will know when to ask for help and guidance and be self-disciplined in appearance and manner.

The successful candidate will be able to receive instruction and carry out requests with regards to all aspects of the nursery. They will also have the ability to communicate with a wide range of people, including colleagues and parents.

A supporting role in an exciting project, you will work face to face with young people as well as build great relationships with and coordinate volunteer hosts.

Location: Bath

37 hours per week with flexibility of some evenings and week-ends

Salary: £23,000 pa                                                                       

Fixed term contract for 3 years, potentially extended subject to funding.

What does the job involve?

Nightstop is an award winning accommodation service for homeless 16 – 25 year olds. Using a strong network of trained and vetted volunteers, young people are placed in volunteer host’s spare rooms for up to two weeks before they move into safe sustainable accommodation.

Daystop is our wrap-around daytime project offering young people somewhere safe and warm to be during the day where they can access advice, support, signposting, food & drink and drop-in sessions.

The Support Worker will assist in the operational delivery of Bath Nightstop & Daystop and will play a role in the development of the project. The successful candidate will:

  • Have the skills, experience and knowledge to play a significant part in the development of the project
  • Have experience in working with ‘hard to reach’ young people
  • Have experience of working with volunteers, including the recruitment, training and retention of volunteers
  • Car driver essential, with access to own vehicle.
